Welcome to Part 5 of the Stitch Sampler Scarpghan CAL! This week is the Wheel Stitch. This stitch does require more yarn than the others. You will need at least 50g per color if you want the colors changes to look like the one pictured.

Help! I am not understanding this stitch – Wheel stitch. Do you have a video of you doing it? That would help.
I understood row 27 but not row 28. Please help. Up till now I am doing great and love each Friday when I can add to my Scrap-ghan. Thank you.

I’m not understanding the ‘cluster over the next five stitches’ part of row 28. In the CL note section it says ‘…over the number of stitches indicated in pattern, yarn over pull through all loops on hook’. I’m not understanding this section on how to do the cluster. How do I do a cluster over the next 5 stitches-are the 5 stitches ‘the number of stitches indicated in the pattern’? Help!
Thanks!

I can say that I am not a huge fan of the wheel stitch but it does look nice when complete. I didn’t know that stitch before so I am happy for a CaL like this to learn new stitches. Thank you! Can’t wait to see everyone else’s finished work.
Where do you change colors for this one?
After row 1, then every 2 rows
I am having the same problem Cluster over the next 9 stitches is that one cluster or 9 clusters. Help!
Hi! I am making a photo tutorial tonight and will let you know when it’s posted 🙂
So I watched a video and I think I understand the process; however, now my clusters are starting to buckle. I’m at the fifth or sixth ‘round’. I’m counting the correct number of stitches I think-if I crochet through nine stitches I get 10 loops on my hook. So is it nine loops maybe but even then it’s still buckling.
Thanks again!
The clusters will pucker a little bit 🙂
Help I am having same problem with row 28

I persevered and finally got it. I was missing pulling the yarn through all the loops on the hook before starting again. Hope it continues as well as these first two wheels.
Yay!
In the pattern notes
Can you type out the wording where the stars are in the cl after it says pull through 2 loops*repeat from*to*???so i can figure out the cl stitch pattern?
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
CL – *yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops* repeat from * to * over the number of stitches indicated in pattern, yarn over pull through all loops on hook
In the cluster stitch be it 5 or 9 when you insert your hook into each stitch you yarn over pull through 2 loops. Heres my question: when you insert your hook into the last stitch of the cluster, do you yarn over pull through 2 loops then yarn over and pull through all remaining loops? Or in last cluster stitch do you only yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook?
Second question: how many loops should you have on your hook for the pull through all loops on your hook step? 5 for the 5cl stitch? 9 for the 9cl stitch?
Next question: what is the cluster stitch pattern for second row? Is it one 5cl stitch then 9 cl stitch all the way to end of the row with a 5cl stitch at the end?
Or is the cluster pattern sequence 5cl followed by 9cl followed by 5cl, 9cl, 5cl 9cl ending row with a 5cl?
Should row 30 be a repeat of row 27? Is that why my row 30 made the whole design poof out to where nothing makes it lay flat? Ive redone it 3 times using row 30 instructions to no avail.
Hi! No it’s not a repeat of row 27
Mine has a little poof. Are you doing the 3 chain stitches Loosely? Also the last row it is 3 chain stitches in the 3 chain stitch space . These are things I Harv problems with. Also I think if any of your yarn is a different thickness that can cause poof.
Sorry the last row was 3 sc in the 3 chain stitch hole. IGnore what I said in above email about the last row.
okay I just finished Row 29. each end was a half wheel .
so now row 30 says to chain one turn single crochet loosely chain 3 and CL 9 in the beginning. is it supposed to be 5 and then 9. Acrossand then 5 at the end? or is it supposed to be 9 on this row all way across??
I just gotta say your patterns are great! The wearables are teen friendly which is very difficult to find. Keep up the great work! I appreciate you.❤
I know I am slow but I just finished Part 5. I couldn’t have done without your photo tutorial. Thank you. Looking forward to starting Part 6. P.S. the pattern is great I love it. Rose
Thank you so much!
I just found your CAL and saved the PDF files. On part 3, the file is saved as Part3-1 and Part 5 is Part5-2. Did you revise them or is there more files to go with these Parts?
Those are revised versions 🙂 Or if I uploaded the file to my blog twice.
I love the look of this stitch, however I will (hopefully) never do this again! Just some things I wanna mention: Of making it out of scraps, be sure to have enough. This is a very material intensive stitch. Make sure not to do the chain 3 too loosely. The chains will pucker. Also make sure not to make them too tight or the wheels themselves will turn oval. Make sure you hook is long enough to accommodate 10 loops. I tried to do this on a grippy hook and found I didn’t have enough room and had to change my hook. When making the clusters, if you feel that it’s too much of a stretch, you should probably check your stitch count on the previous row. Also last, but definitely not least, make sure to read the instructions very carefully as you work this stitch. It’s very easy to get confused, but once you get started it’s very easy to notice the repeats. Hope this helps anyone!
U gave us a free PDF on 1-2-3-4 . Are u not doing that anymore? Thanks
