Unicorn Pillow Friend Crochet Pattern

February 28, 2018

This sweet Unicorn Pillow Friend Crochet Pattern is the perfect huggable size and looks so pretty sitting on a bed or shelf. It’s a great amigurumi beginner project! I am not an experienced amigurumi maker, and this unicorn was very doable for me. It’s just 2 rectangles to make the pillow with the additions added!

Fasten off, weave in the ends.

Repeat pattern in ivory, do not fasten off.

Pull hook out of last stitch, but do not cut off

I stitched on the eyes before I sewed the pieces together

To make the eyes I used a surface slip stitch

Crochet Pattern

Insert hook from front to back where you want the eyes to be, grab black yarn, pull through the stitch, insert hook again along where you want the eyes to be and pull up a loop, work a slip stitch. Continue along the eye line. Then do the same for the eyelashes.

Fasten off, weave in the ends.

Insert hook back into last stitch of the ivory side of the pillow, put both sides together and sew them together with a sc, working 3 sc in each corner

Begin to add stuffing once you get back to the top side. Continue adding stuffing as you sew the top closed, join to the first sc with sl st.

Fasten off, weave in the ends.

Find the center of the top of the pillow. I marked it with a stitch maker.  Sew the horn to the middle with the ivory yarn, keeping the horn behind the border stitching

Sew the ears the same way on both sides of the horn. Sew the flowers across the front. Fasten off, weave in the ends.

  1. Halfway through this project and so far I love it. Simple and easy to follow pattern. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to finish.

  2. How big is the pillow supposed to be? When i chain 41 with a 5.0 hook it’s still only about 10″ long

    1. Hi ? The finished pillow is approximately 12″ x 14″. It doesn’t matter how many you ch. If you want it larger you can ch more or up a hook size. Hope this helps!!

  3. Hi, I’ve bought this pattern to make as a present for my daughter whilst I am away on a trip. Unfortunately the pattern doesn’t indicate approximate quantities required and I won’t have the opportunity to top up. Will 100g of ivory be sufficient or do I need two or even three?

      1. Oh yeah, I didn’t spot that about the back being a different colour. Oh well. This one is going to be ivory on both sides now, which is fine. I might end up using more yarn than expected anyway as I chained 49 to get it to 12″. I guess my tension is a little tight.

      1. Hi ? no, they shouldn’t be curling. Maybe the tension is tight? But when you add stuffing it might fix the problem. Hope this helps!

  4. Hey I don’t under the first bit of the pattern is it meant to be flower I’m doing or retangles?? Help

  5. Hi! I’m having trouble with the horn. I downloaded the instructions but on the first round is it supposed to be the chain 3 counted as one double crochet and then do 6 more crochets which will be 7 total? And is it 7 total on the second round with first chain 3 being a double crochet.

      1. I am wondering about crocheting the pillow together.I would like to see how the back of the pillow looks….I am finding it doesn’t look neat.Would it look neater if both triangles were done around with sc before pieces were crocheted together. Thanks for your help.

  6. Is there a way to make the ears and horn stand up? Mine are flopping around. Trying to finish for a Christmas gift.
