Materials
25g worsted weight yarn total in 4 colors (I used WeCrochet Brava)
H/5.0 mm hook
yarn needle
scissors

Pattern notes & Stitches to Know
magic circle
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
· Written in US terms
· ch 1 does not count as sc
· ch 2 does not count as dc
· This beanie is made from the top down in joined rounds
· the stripes at the bottom are optional. I used 3 shades of gray starting with the lightest shade working towards the dark. I changed color every round. Then ended with my original color
· To change the pattern size, go up or down a hook size. You can also add or take out an increase round.
Approx Finished size (premie) – 4” x 10”
PREMIE BABY BEANIE CROCHET PATTERN
make a magic circle
Round 1: ch 2, 10 dc in the circle, pull circle closed, join to first dc with sl st (10 dc)
Round 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (20 dc)
Round 3: ch 2, *dc in 1 stitch, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (30 dc)
Crown diameter approx. 3.25”
To make the hat larger, add an additional increase round: ch 2, *sc in 2 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (40)
Note: with the additional increase round, the ribbing won’t work the exact same in the bottom rounds.
Round 4 – 6: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (30 dc)
Begin optional striping in next round. Change color each round.
Round 7 – 10: ch 1, sc in first stitch, fpdc in next, *sc in next 2 stitches, fpdc in next* repeat from * to * around, to last stitch, sc in last stitch, join to first sc with sl st (30)
Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
