The Pebble Bucket Hat Crochet Pattern is a quick, summer hat. It features a simple pebble stitch texture above a slightly flared brim.

This hat is the 1st pattern in the Crochet Along for a Cause. We are making 1 hat per week to donate to a cancer center, school, or homeless shelter for 10 weeks. There’s always time to join! You can find all the details and hat patterns HERE.

Materials
80g worsted weight cotton yarn (I used WeCrochet Dishie in Ash)
I/5.5 mm hook
yarn needle
scissors

magic ring
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
PS – puff stitch – *yarn over, insert hook into stitch, pull of a loop the height of a dc* repeat 2 more times, yarn over and pull through all 7 loops on hook
ws – wrong side
rs – right side

· Written in US terms

· ch 2 does not count as dc

· ch 1 does not count as sc

· This hat is made from the top down in joined rounds. Use joined turned rounds for the PS sections (noted in pattern when to turn)

Length: 8”
Circumference:  20”

PEBBLE BUCKET HAT CROCHET PATTERN

Make a magic ring

Round 1 (rs): ch 2, 12 dc in ring, join to first dc with sl st, pull ring closed tight (12 dc)

Round 2 (rs): ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (24 dc)

Round 3 (rs): ch 2, *dc in 1 stitch, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (36 dc)

Round 4 (rs): ch 2, *dc in 2 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (48 dc)

Round 5 (rs): ch 2, *dc in 3 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to the first dc with sl st (60 dc)

Crown diameter is approx. 6

To adjust sizing, add or take out increase rounds.

Round 6 – 8 (rs): ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (60 dc)

The PS starts in the next round

Round 9 (ws): ch 1, turn, PS in first stitch, sc in next, *PS in next stitch, sc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first stitch with sl st (60)

Round 10 (rs): ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (60 sc)

Round 11 (ws): ch 1, turn, sc in first stitch, PS in next, *sc in next stitch, PS in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first stitch with sl st (60)

Round 12 (rs): ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (60 sc)

Round 13 – 16: repeat rounds 9 – 12 once more

The flared brim starts in the next round

Round 17 (rs): ch 2, *dc in 5 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (70 dc)

Round 18 (rs): ch 2, *dc in 6 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (80 dc)

Round 19 (rs): ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (80 dc)

Fasten off.

Weave in the ends.
