This bag uses a stitch called the Moroccan Tile Stitch and it creates this woven-like texture. I was so surprised to learn that it uses a simple V stitch throughout! I used 3 colors for the stripes (other than my main color). I think a main color and a self-striping yarn would work perfectly as well. The yarn I used to I Love this Cotton Yarn from Hobby Lobby. It’s a durable and soft cotton that comes in many colors. Some other great cotton yarn choices are WeCrochet Dishie and Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream. I do recommend using a cotton yarn for market bags.

  1. I just found your site yesterday when looking for more hat patterns to crochet for our local mission and crisis pregnancy center this winter, and am so very excited! You have an amazing selection of fun, interesting and stylish hats and I’m itching to make several of them. Just wanted to say thanks for making your talent available! You really have a marvelous variety of ones that aren’t super complicated, and your example pictures are nice and clear. I’m working my way backward though your blog and bookmarking as I go. 🙂

  2. Question. On the second round of row 10 and going forward on the repeat, do you vstitch in color A round or color B round??

  3. You have some amazing patterns on your site, I’m going to make the market bag for a Christmas gift, and I love your yarn colour choice, thank you so much! 😍

  4. Thank you for the pattern. I am having a difficult time with row 11. My design does not look the same as yours . Can you help me with knowing where to put the V stitch ? Do you happen to have a video ? Or can you draw a diagram ? That you for your help

    1. Hi! Sorry, I don’t have a video right now. In round 11 you will be working the stitches in round 9. So if you are following the color pattern, place the stitches in the same color row below. In the previous row, the V stitches were worked in the ch-1 space. In this row place the stitches in the between the V stitches (not the ch-1 space). Hope this helps!
