How to Crochet the Wheel Stitch

Materials
yarn of your choice (for this tutorial I used Loops & Threads Impeccable)
appropriate hook (I used a J/6.0 mm)
scissors

Level
intermediate

Pattern Noted & Stitches to Know
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
CL – *yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops* repeat from * to * over the number of stitches indicated in pattern, yarn over pull through all loops on hook

WHEEL STITCH PATTERN

ch a multiple of 8 + 2 more ch (for this tutorial I have a ch of 18)

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from the hook, *skip 3 chs, 9 dc in next, skip 3 chs, sc in next* repeat from * to * across 

Row 2: ch 2, turn, CL over the first 5 stitches,

*loosely ch 3, sc in next stitch, loosely ch 3, CL over next 9 stitches*

repeat from * to * across, ending with CL over last 5 stitches

Row 3: ch 2, turn, 5 dc in same stitch,

*skip ch 3, sc, skip ch 3, 9 dc in loop from CL in previous row*

repeat from * to * across, ending with 5 dc in last stitch

Row 4: ch 1, turn, sc in same stitch, *loosely ch 3, CL over next 9 stitches, loosely ch 3, sc in next* repeat from * to * across, ending with sc in last stitch

Row 5: ch 1, sc in same stitch, *skip ch 3, 9 dc in loop from CL in previous row, skip ch 3, sc in next stitch* repeat from * to * across

Repeat rows 2 – 5 for pattern.
