The Horizon Blanket Crochet Pattern uses one of my favorite stitches, the Corner to Corner Moss Stitch! This blanket is worked in long panels that are sewn together to create this chevron or zig-zag look.
The yarn used is I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby in the color Cinnamon Cedar. I specifically wanted a self striping yarn, but with shorter color changes than a yarn cake (unlike Caron Cakes or Mandala – those would give a different effect). Besides the striping yarn at Hobby Lobby, another great option would be Brava Stripe from WeCrochet. When making each panel I made sure to start with a different color (within the striping pattern). I did this to ensure that the stripe colors didn’t match up. I wanted them to be offset for this chevron look.

Pattern notes & Stitches to Know
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
· written in US terms
· ch 2 counts as sc + ch 1
· This blanket is made with 6 long rectangles sewn together. When making each panel I made sure to start with a different color (within the color pattern). I did this to ensure that the stripe colors didn’t match up with the panel next to it. I wanted the stripes to be offset for this chevron look.
· The stitch used is the Corner to Corner (C2C) Moss Stitch
· The size of the blanket can easily be adjusted by changing the size of the panels.
· To keep track of rows I recommend placing a stitch marker every 25 rows
Approx Finished Size: 46″ x 46″

SEWING
Lay the panels next to each other so the diagonal stripes are going opposite directions. Move them around until you like the color placements. Use stitch markers to secure two panels next to each other. Use the long end and yarn needle to sew with a whip stitch. Repeat for remaining panels.
Weave in the ends.

i’m doing a sock weight yarn of the month club and I’m thinking of using this to make a throw with that yarn…. each skein is 450 yards.. might need thinner rectangles but I think it will be.. something 😉
