This market bag is crocheted with fabric, instead of yarn so that makes it nice and sturdy. Great for a market or beach bag!
I found this awesome fabric yarn at Hobby Lobby. They had a few beautiful color combinations, but the black and yellow was my favorite.
You could also make your own fabric strips . HERE’S a great tutorial for making your own fabric strips!
PATTERN

2 skeins Freedom Yarn in Black (or 150 yards fabric strips)

MARKET BAG
Starting with the Q hook
Ch 18
Switch to P hook
Round 1: ch 1, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook (mark with stitch marker) and across
sc 2 more in the last stitch, sc across the other side of the chain, sc 2 in the last stitch, join to the first sc with a sl st (38 sc)
NOTE: I like to use a stitch marker with sc in a round. It can be hard for me to see the first stitch of a round when it’s a sc 🙂
Round 2 – 14: Ch 1, sc in same stitch (move stitch marker) and around, join to the first sc with a sl st (38 sc)
Round 15: ch 4 (counts as sc + ch 3), skip 3 stitches, sc in next, *ch 3, skip 3 stitches, sc in next* repeat from * to * around, sc in last stitch
Round 16: *ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space* repeat from * to * around
Round 17: *ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space* repeat from * to * around
Round 18: sc in next sc, *3 sc in ch 3 space, sc in sc* repeat from * to * around, join to the first sc
Round 19: ch 1, sc in same stitch and around, join to the first sc
Round 20: ch 1, sc in same stitch and around, join to the first sc
NOTE: You will make the straps in the next round
Round 21: ch 1, sc in same stitch and in next 4, ch 30, skip 10 stitches, sc in next 9, ch 30, skip 10 stitches, sc in last 4 stitches, join to the first sc
