The Chunky Classic Beanie Crochet Pattern is made exactly like the Classic Beanie, but made with super bulky yarn! I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. This beanie is one big rectangle, sewn up into a comfy & cozy beanie.

Materials
2 skeins Lion Brand Thick & Quick in Arctic Ice (any super bulky – category 6 yarn will work)
N/9.0 mm
yarn needle
scissors
pom pom (optional)

ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
hdc blo – half double crochet back loop only
sc – single crochet

· ch 2 does not count as stitch

· This beanie is worked as one rectangle. Then sewn together to make a tube. The top is cinched closed to make the beanie.

· Pattern is written in 3 sizes. Child, Teen/Small Adult noted in [ ], Large Adult is noted in { }

· The photos included in the pattern are from a different beanie, but the method is the same.

Circumference: Child (17”) Teen/Sm. Adult (20”) Lg. Adult (23”)

CHUNKY CLASSIC BEANIE CROCHET PATTERN

Ch 24 (27) [30]

Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from the hook and across (22, (25), [28] hdc)

Row 2: ch 2, turn, hdc in first stitch, hdc blo in each stitch across to the last stitch, hdc in last stitch (22, (25), [28] hdc)

Repeat Row 2 to Row 23 (27) [31] (22, (25), [28] hdc)

Lay out the rectangle so the rows are running vertically and then fold in half from left to right

Sc both ends together. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Using your yarn needle and the long end, weave the long tail in and out around the top of the hat, cinch it closed. Weave in all your ends, turn hat rightside out so the seam is on the inside.

Fold the bottom up so the hat is about 8 (9) [10] inches long.

Add a pom pom!
