The Bubblegum Beanie Crochet Pattern is 100% fun! I dug through my stash and found some variegated yarn with matching solid yarn that I knew I had to do something fun with.
This beanie is the 6th pattern in our Crochet Along for a Cause! We are making 1 hat per week to donate to a cancer center all summer long. There’s always time to join! You can find all the details and hat patterns HERE.

Pattern notes & stitches to know
Sl st – slip stich
Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet
Bobble – in the last step of the stitch before the bobble, pull through the secondary color, *yarn over, insert into stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops* repeat 4 more times. You have 6 loops on hook. Pull your main color through all 6 loops on hook.
Written in US terms
Ch at beginning of each round does not count as stitch

BUBBLEGUM BEANIE
Start with main color, ch 61 (mult of 6 + 1 more ch) – the entire beanie is worked with the main color, except for the bobbles
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from the hook and across (it should be approximately 19” long), join to first sc with sl st (60 sc)
Now you will work in joined rounds
Don’t worry about the small gap at the bottom, we’ll get back to that 😉
Round 2: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (60 dc)
In the next round you will start the bobble stitch
Round 3: ch 1, sc in first 2 stitches, bobble in next (you will need to push the bobble out to the right side), *sc in 5, bobble in next* repeat from * to * around, sc in last 3 stitches, join to first sc with sl st (10 bobbles, 50 sc)
To get a cleaner look, pull through the secondary color in the sc before the bobble stitch, refer to picture 2.
Be sure to carry the other color by crocheting over it so you can easily pick it back up when you need it.
I did not fasten off either colors throughout. Drop secondary color and pick it up again in round 5.
Round 4: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (60 dc)
Round 5: ch 1, *sc in 5 stitches, bobble in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first sc with sl st (10 bobbles, 50 sc)
Round 6: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (60 dc)
Repeat round 3 – 6 to round 20 (approximately 10.5″ long)
Fasten off, leave a long end for sewing
Using the yarn needle, weave the long end in and out of the top loops of the last round.
Pull the end to cinch the top closed.
Sew it closed.
Fasten off, weave in your ends.
Remember that small gap from joining row 1? Use the beginning end to sew that small space closed.
Weave in all your ends.
And you’re done!! Thank you so much for being here & checking out my pattern

I can’t wait to make this Beanie. It looks pretty hard, but I know I can do it. My mom would of said ……DiEtta you can do it! Keep trying. Love her. ??❤️ I’m so enjoying making each one of these patterns. Thanks Breann for sharing. ?
Started the pattern but having a horrible time. I will keep trying. I wish there was a tutorial so I could watch how to do this stitch. My count of stitches doesn’t come out right at the end of the first row of the “bobble” stitches. ?? May try it but only use one color instead of two.
