What is a crochet along (CAL)?

A crochet along is when a pattern is broken up into parts and a group works on each section at the same time. It’s fun because you can share your progress with each other and ask questions!

I like to do things pretty casual for a crochet along. There is no “signing up” to join, you simply follow along with the pattern as the different sections get posted! The best way to stay updated on release dates and things is to join my FACEBOOK GROUP and/or SIGN UP FOR MY NEWSLETTER.

Here are the details–

– We will start on Friday, May 9th.

– The CAL will last 4 weeks and will end on Friday, May 30th. Each part will release on Fridays at 6 AM MST

– The first two weeks will be making the hexagons. The third week will be sewing and starting on the skirt. Finishing up the skirt and adding (optional) finishing touches (like a drawstring, balloon sleeves, and twisted fringe) will be the final week.

– Each week the next section of the cover up pattern will be released. There will be 1 new blog post for each week with 2 PDF patterns– the children’s and the adult’s. So if you’re making one of each, you will want to download each pattern every week.

– There will be 2 ad-free, printable PDF’s (one children size and one adult size) available to download for free on my blog each week for the duration of the CAL. After it’s over, the free PDF’s will be taken down and moved to my shops. So even if you get behind, make sure to get the printable every week! 🙂

– This cover up is an easy level. It uses just the granny stitch. There will be a full video tutorial for each part.

– Materials: Caron Cotton Cakes (any worsted weight yarn) & I/5.5 mm hook (or whatever hook used to obtain gauge)

– Notes about sizing: This pattern is written in both kid’s and adult sizes. The sizes are grouped (i.e. 2/4, 6/8… etc). This is due to double crochets being used for the granny stitch and do not allow for precise sizing. The cover up is intended to be loose with a few inches of positive ease. There is also room for customizing.

  1. Are you sure your ending st count is correct for rounds 2 through 4 on your gauge swatch or maybe I am really miss reading the direction? On rnd 1, I have the 18 dc and 6 chain 2 spaces. On round two I have 6 chain two spaces and I am putting 6 dc in each hole (3dc, chain 2, 3dc) so I am ending with 36 stitches. Hope this makes sense.
